Apricot Nutrients and Health Benefits

Apricot FruitI love eating fresh sweet apricots. Another reason I love apricots is because they are very healthy. Some people get confused between apricots and peaches. Apricots are smaller, less fuzzy and their kernels (or seeds) have a smooth shell. Peaches on the other hand are larger than apricots, and they have much fuzzier skin and their seeds have a really thick and veiny shell. In this article I’ll be talking mainly about apricots, but if you want to read about peaches, then go to this article called “Peaches Nutrients and Benefits“.

Binomial name of apricots is Prunus Armeniaca from the family of Rosaceae. In Russian language apricot is called Aбрикос, you can pronounce it like this Abreekoss, or something like that ;) Some people believe that apricots are native fruits of Armenia, because of its scientific name Prunus Armeniaca which means Armenian Plum. Apricot trees are pretty sensitive to big temperature changes, but the healthier trees should be able to withstand those temperatures. Continue reading

Cherry Nutrients and Health Benefits

Sweet Cherries

I ate some cherries recently and at the same time I wanted to know what kind of Nutrients they contained. For some reason I assumed that I already had an article about Cherries, but the only article I found is How to get Cherry stain off Naturally. I was very surprised to find out that I didn’t have an article posted yet about Cherries. Cherry fruit is pretty popular around the world and I try to make sure that I have every popular fruit and/or vegetable included in GenuineAid blog.

The family of a Cherry is called Rosaceae and the Genus is Prunus. There are lots of species of the cherry. My article is going to be about the sweet cherry also know as Wild cherry, Sweet cherry, Gean, or botanically speaking Prunus Avium. In America I never heard anyone call the sour and the sweet cherries with their different names. In Russian language we always called the hard sweet Cherry as Черешня – Chereshnya, and the soft sour Cherry is called Вишня – Veeshnya. Personally, I never liked the sour Cherries, they are more acidic which is why they are much more sour than the sweet Cherry. At the same time, I just remembered that there is one dish that I really like made with sour Cherry, in Russian it’s called Вареники – Vareniki. It’s like dumplings, only instead of meat inside of the boiled dough, people put cleaned out sour cherries without the pits (or seeds). Continue reading

Carrots Nutrients and Health Benefits

CarrotsHere it is again, another rewritten article. Like I said before in one or more of my previous articles that some of my very old articles were not created and/or put together as organized as the recent ones. My old article about carrots can be found here – Carrots Nutrients and Benefits. So, let’s sit back, relax, and begin our new and updated research on carrots.

Carrots are in the family of Apiaceae and their binomial name is Daucus Carota. Carrot is considered as a Root Vegetable. In Russian carrots are called Markovka, and the actual Russian word looks like this – Марковка. Make sure to pronounce the R or roll your R’s in Markovka the Spanish or Russian way and not the English way. (I’m still having trouble saying the letter R the English way, but I’m working on it).

Carrots come in multiple different colors like; Red, Yellow, Orange, White, Light Purple, and Dark Purple. Depending on the environment, mature carrots can be kept after picking for about three to four weeks, but the young carrots can only survive for about two weeks. If you want to make the carrot’s shelf life longer, make sure to remove their green tops.

Did you know that the tops of the carrots are also edible? I really didn’t know that. Hmm… Interesting. The Orange part of the carrot is called a Taproot. Some people claim that Carrots are very good companion plants, especially in tomato production, because the white carrot’s flowers attract wasps which help protect the tomatoes from different kinds of pests.

People around the world enjoy carrots in very many ways like; chopping, boiling, frying, steaming, or by just eating them raw and fresh. You can use or cook carrots in soups, stews, salads, cakes, puddings, rice, and baby foods. The Nutrients in one cup (or 128 grams) of Raw Chopped Carrots are: Continue reading

Easy Chicken Meat Stew Recipe

Spoon and Fork Preview for Chicken Recipe. This is a simple and an easy to follow recipe for stewing some chicken meat. Do you like to eat chicken meat? I do, especially after I personally cook it. One of my favorite ways to cook chicken is by stewing it, but first there will be a boiling process for removing some unwanted extra fat and for juicier and more tender feel and taste. I’ve recently decided to cook some food for my family and I, and I like to cook it so there would be enough for at least two days. I just don’t have time for cooking every day. At the same time I like to cook and/or yummy food :)

If you want to know the Nutrients and Health Benefits of Chicken meat then go to This Link. At the same time, if you want to know the Nutrients and Health Benefits of Quinoa which is what I cooked with this meat, then go follow This Link.

The Formula for making Quinoa is easy, just like rice, one cup of Quinoa with two cups of water and with some salt and herbs for better taste. In other words 1 Cup of Quinoa = 2 Cups of Water, or 4 Cups of Quinoa = 8 Cups of Water. Close the lid with all that mixed together in one pot. Bring all of that to boil and let it simmer for 15 minutes. After 15 minutes open the lid and move the quinoa to see the water at the bottom of the pot. If there is still some water left then stir it all and let it be for a minute or two without the lid so all extra water evaporates. You’ll may want to add about half a stick of Organic butter and mix it all together again so it doesn’t stick too much when it cools down. Also, taste it at this point and add salt if it needs it, but don’t over salt it.

Anyway, back to the Chicken meat recipe. It is up to you if you want to include some vegetables in it or not, but an onion and garlic is A MUST. I believe that garlic and onions make all kinds of meats taste better, juicier, and more tender. In my opinion and according to some people, onions make hard-to-chew meat become easy-to-chew meat. So, I think we can begin with the steps and the recipe for Chicken Meat. Continue reading
