On April 26th, 1986 at 1:23 am local time in Chernobyl, Ukraine (formerly an Ukrainian SSR), occurred deadly historic explosions due to extreme power increase at reactor number 4 after a systems test. Since some of the government officials didn’t want people to know all the details regarding the radioactivity and didn’t provide the sufficient evacuation process, many innocent people, animals, and plants have died or suffered extreme health issues. Some people including children developed thyroid cancer due to exposure of massive radiation. A Belarus National Academy of Sciences estimated that about 270,000 of people would develop cancers in their bodies and that 93,000 of those people would most likely die. Later on people cleaned up the radioactive pieces then they put them all back into the number 4 nuclear reactor and covered it all with lots of concrete, which is now called Sarcophagus or Stone Coffin. Today I would like to tell you about my research on Cassava plant. Cassava can also be called Manihot Esculenta, Yuca, Manioc, Cassaba, or Cassada. Cassava plant is actually very popular crop in many regions around the world. Nigeria is supposably the biggest Cassava producer in the world. Cassava is very popular because of its Starchy Edible Root. Also, Cassava root is one of the largest sorces of carbohydrates in the world. Cassava can be classified as sweet or toxic depending on its toxicity.
Carissa Macrocarpa or Natal Plum, or Large Num-Num, or Amatungulu, or just Carissa is a South African shrub that now can be found in various places around the world. This Carissa shrub prefers to live in coastal areas with salty winds. It can grow as high as 7 (about 2 meters) feet and as wide as 10 feet (about 3 meters). Carissa plant produces beautiful, thick, round, and shiny leaves which people claim to be poisonous. Also, Carissa produces nice, red, tarty, plum-shaped, sweet and sour fruit (or berry) which is edible when raw and/or when cooked. Breadfruit or Artocarpus Altilis or Sukun is not Jackfruit just so you know from the start, even though they do look alike on the outside and are very related to each other. In this Article I would like to introduce you to a flowering plant, that somewhat resembles a clover, called Alfalfa. Agave vegetables are not Cactus Plants and they are not Aloe Plants. Agave plants are from Agavaceae family and have more than 200 different species. Agave Americana, Agave Angustifolia, Agave Tequilana, and Agave Attenuata are the most commonly grown species of Agave Vegetable. The Agave’s Flowers, leaves, stalks (basal rosettes), and the sap (honey water) are all edible for humans. Agave vegetable provides people an another alternative to sugar in cooking which is usually called Agave Nectar (agave syrup).
