Apples Nutrients and Health Benefits

Apple and Apple Flowers in a basket.I decided to write a new and updated article post for a typical apple fruit. The older article can be found here, it was called Apple Nutrients and Benefits. An Apple in Russian look like this Яблоко, and you would pronounce it like this Yabloko. Apple’s Binomial name is Malus Domestica from the family of Rosaceae. Apple trees can grow as high as 39 feet (or 12 meters). Apple’s seeds are called pips.

Apple fruit is extremely popular throughout the world. For instance in 2005 at least 55 million tonnes of apples were grown worldwide, which value is about ten billion dollars. In 2008 the top ten apple producing countries were China, USA, Iran, Turkey, Russia, Italy, India, France, Chile, and Argentina.

Some people claim that the apple’s seeds are slightly poisonous, but on the other hand many people still eat them and claim that they are very healthy instead. As far as I know don’t overdose on apple’s seeds and you should be fine, but it’s totally up to you if you want to risk eating them. After reading and listening to people’s and scientists’ reviews on fruits’ seeds I came to conclusion that most the seeds contain Vitamin B17 (also called Laetrile or Amygdaline) which is the cure and prevention of most or all cancers. At the same time it is very easy to overdose on seeds, so just estimate how many fruits you could eat at one time and that is how much seeds should be safe for you to consume. Big medicine companies and some hospitals don’t want you to know about the Vitamin B17 because you can save lots of money by curing or preventing cancer by yourself. To find out more about Vitamin B17 read my older article called One of the Best Anti-cancers – Vitamin B17.

There are researches that suggest that apples can help reduce the risk of Prostate Cancer, Colon Cancer, and Lung Cancer. At the same time apples may decrease the cholesterol levels, prevent dementia, and prevent overweight problems. The Nutrients of one medium raw apple with skin which is about 3 inches in diameter and weighs about 182 grams are: Continue reading

Pear Nutrients and Health Benefits

Pears in BasketPear fruit is pretty popular throughout the world. Its Scientific Genus name is Pyrus and there are about 30 different species. This year our Pear tree bloomed with lots of beautiful white flowers, but when I came up to smell them I was surprised. The beautiful white flowers on our pear tree smelled like crap, seriously, they smelled like poop. Another weird thing about our Pear tree is that it’s blooming and growing just fine even better than before, while our apple, apricot, and plum trees are suffering from some kind of a problem. Many people claimed that for the last two years this problem is either nation-wide in USA or even world-wide. Some say it’s because of frost and some say it’s because of the disappearance of bees. I think it’s both of those issues plus something that we probably don’t know about yet.

It’s very interesting how people prefer to eat pears at different ripening times. Some like to eat pears when they are fully ripened which is when they are very yellow, very sweet, juicy, and pretty soft. I like to eat pears when they are still green, pretty sweet, not very juicy, and pretty hard. Have you noticed how the seeds in pears taste yummier than in apples? I did… I like that the seeds are kind of sour and easy to chew, because seeds are very important for our health boost and for preventing/curing cancer. Also, as a reminder this is an updated post for my earlier Pears Nutrients and Benefits article post.

One Raw Medium Pear can contain these Nutrients: Continue reading

Watermelon Nutrients and Health Benefits

Red Watermelon with Seeds. Here is some good-to-know information that I found out about the Watermelons. Watermelons are from the Cucurbitaceae family and there are more than 1200 of varieties of them. Watermelons can weigh anywhere from less than a pound and up to more than two hundred pounds. They are also can be in red, yellow, orange, and white colors when in ripened stage. Some of the Watermelon’s varieties are Carolina Cross, Yellow Crimson Watermelon, Orangeglo, Moon and Stars, Cream of Saskatchewan, Melitopolski, Densuke Watermelon, and so on.

Green WatermelonWhen you pick a Watermelon in the store, at the farm, or at some kind of a market, make sure that you choose a fully ripened Watermelon. A good amount of research has been done and it was conducted that fully ripened fruits that are close to being spoiled are much higher in antioxidants then the early picked fruits. When choosing which one to take home with you, try choosing the one with a deeper color and if you choose the whole and uncut Watermelons, then there has to be a yellow spot on one of the sides, that is the side it was laying on, if there is no yellow spot then the watermelon was picked to early. Also, the less of white lines on top of the green deep color the better. Not only do the Watermelons taste good but they also are pretty healthy. The Nutrients in about One Raw Watermelon Wedge (about 1/16 of whole melon = 286 grams) are: Continue reading

Red Yellow Green Peppers Nutrients and Health Benefits

Sweet Bell PeppersHave you seen the Red, Yellow, and Green Bell Peppers in your local grocery stores? Have you ever bought them or used them for your meals? Well, I used them and sometimes still do for my soups, salads, or whatever I can use them in. I really like the taste of the red sweet bell pepper, then I’d say the yellow one is next in line of taste for me, and then the green one. What is kind of annoying to me is that the red ones are the most expensive ones in stores. For salads I would recommend fresh peppers, but for the soups or cooked meals I usually use the frozen ones that are already chopped into strips and the package I buy at Wal-Mart has all three colors in it.

These Bell Peppers are from species called Capsicum Annuum and are called sometimes as Sweet Peppers. Usually these peppers are Red, Yellow, or Green, but from time to time people can get or find an orange pepper or even a purple one. Bell Peppers taste kind of sweet and kind of bitter, the red ones seem to me a little sweeter than others. People from around the world cook these peppers in many different ways, some eat them fresh and alone without anything else, some enjoy them in fresh salads, some put them in stir fry dishes or soups, and some stuff them with ground meat and cook them that way to enjoy it later. Wasabi Root Nutrients and Health Benefits

Wasabi Root. Many people are used to seeing wasabi in a form of a green paste and usually by sushi dishes. But in real life Wasabi is pretty much another Vegetable plant that is also known as Japanese Horseradish, or Wasabia Japonica, or Cochlearia wasabi, or Eutrema japonica. Wasabi is a member of the Brassicaceae family, in other words, it’s in the same family as Mustard, Horseradish, and Cabbage. Typically Wasabi is used as a condiment, especially for sushi and/or rice. Since it’s pretty difficult and expensive to grow and keep wasabi plants, people began to make a very similar tasting product called Western Wasabi which consists of Western Horseradish, Mustard, and Green Food Coloring.

Usually people can buy the Wasabi roots, Wasabi leaves, or Wasabi paste. The root should normally be grated, ground, or sliced before consuming it. When you decide to enjoy some of the Wasabi Paste with your sushi or other foods, then make sure that you don’t wait for too long before eating it because the flavor of Wasabi in Wasabi paste begins to evaporate after about 15 minutes. Also, remember to take just a little at a time of Wasabi Paste into your mouth, because if you take too much then you’ll feel it burn your tongue and maybe your nose. Continue reading

Rhubarb Nutrients and Health Benefits

Rhubarb VegetableI believe that I have never tried Rhubarb or Rheum Rhabarbarum vegetable, so that means I really don’t know how it tastes. Not too long ago one of my relatives offered me to try one of these Rhubarb vegetable stalks, but since I wasn’t sure about this vegetable I decided not to try it. In Russian language Rhubarb is called Pевень. Some people refer to Rhubarb as a vegetable but some refer to it as a fruit because of the regulation, duties, and tax purposes. Some people from around the world prefer to eat Rhubarbs raw and some prefer to cook it. Just to warn you, the leaves on this vegetable are toxic, so try to avoid eating them. People claim that fresh and raw stalks from Rhubarb are as crisp as a Celery and that they have a strong tart taste to them.

Rhubarb vegetable is grown either on fields or in Heated Greenhouses or Hothouses. People believe that the Rhubarbs from a Hothouse are more sweater and more tender than the cultivated Rhubarb vegetable. Some people think that Rhubarb is an excellent choice for jams, but you must remember to add some kind of a natural sweetener to it while boiling it. Since Rhubarb sauce was and still is used a lot in some pies, people refer to it as a Pie Plant. The most common fruit that people use for cooking together with the Rhubarb vegetable is Strawberry.
